On the grill
Whole rope, coiled, over medium heat, turned once. Peppers and onions alongside, a good roll, and that's dinner.
Freezer strategy: portion it into 1 lb bags before it goes in the freezer, and pull what you need for any given dinner. Split across a week it's sausage and peppers Monday, meatball subs Wednesday, sausage pizza Friday.
